Last night the Rangers went into Nashville and beat the Predators on shootout goals from Jimmy Vesey and Mats Zuccarello. This win pushed the Rangers into a tie with the Penguins at the top of the absolutely loaded Metropolitan division. Seriously, the Metro has FIVE teams with over 40 points so far this season. Which means if the Pacific division leading San Jose Sharks was in the Metro they would be in 6th place with 39 points. It’s absolutely bananas how hot that division is right now. Which just makes it all the more impressive that the Rangers are back on top.

The Rangers are doing it in a lot of different ways too. Zucc and Rick Nash are both on fire offensively right now. The Rangers finally have a defense to support the great goalkeeping, which is what they’ve really been lacking the last few years. Also, the great goalkeeping is finally back with Henrik’s recent play. And finally rookie sensation Jimmy Vesey is looking like his hot start is not just a fluke. This guy is playing some legitimately great hockey, including an awesome goal in the shootout last night.

So, a team I support is putting all their faith in a Harvard grad. What could go wrong?
