We’re back for major number three of the year, folks. At Augusta, I told you that you had to take Tiger Woods because you would forever regret it if he won and you didn’t bet it. He wasn’t my top pick but if you bet the units I laid out you still made a nice profit off of the GOAT. Then at the PGA, I made it very clear that there were only two golfers with a legitimate shot at that tournament, Brooks Koepka and Dustin Johnson. Then of course, Brooks dominated all 72 holes and the only person that came close to him on Sunday was DJ. A perfectly predicted tournament. Let’s make it 3/3 at Pebble Beach this weekend.
I have a few different picks for this one, which I think will be way more wide open than the PGA. If you follow my units hopefully we’ll profit big just like Augusta.
The Winners
These are the guys with not great odds that I still expect to be right there. I am putting 3 units a piece on these guys.
Rory McIlroy (8/1)– I haven’t bet Rory the entire season but it is impossible to ignore how well he is playing right now. If he plays even close to how he did last weekend he’ll be the US Open champ.
Dustin Johnson (+850)- I can’t seem to keep my money away from DJ. He is so god damn good every week and just can’t seem to piece it all together and get a win. He has won twice at Pebble Beach for, and almost won the Open there in 2010. After finishing 2nd at the first two majors of the year I think DJ is hungry for this one.
The Contenders
These guys will be right there on Sunday with a chance to win. I’m putting 2 units a piece on these guys.
Tiger Woods (10/1)- Once again you can’t NOT bet Tiger on this course. I kept him off the list at Bethpage because I knew the distance would bother him. But Tiger dominates Pebble, unlike any other player. He knows exactly where to play the ball to beat out this course, just like at Augusta. Ole Eldrick is playing much better since the PGA and is ready here.
Patrick Cantlay (18/1)- Cantlay has been quietly one of the most consistent players on Tour this year and Pebble suits his game really well. He had a top-10 finish at Augusta, a top-5 at Bethpage and won his last start at the Memorial. Ride Cantlay here.
Adam Scott (30/1)- This value is too damn good for Adam Scott. He is always at the top of the board in majors and if he can put the ball well with the pin in then he’ll be in great shape. He had a top-10 at Bethpage, top-20 at Augusta, and has two runner ups this season, including his last start at the Memorial. Take the value here.
The Shot
I’ve risked a total of 12 units above. This is the one guy that will still salvage a profit on a 1 unit shot. The savior that Tiger was at Augusta.
Jordan Spieth (18/1)- Jordan was playing the worst golf of his career until a couple months ago, but since he has finished T-3 at the PGA and has top-10 finishes in his last two starts. It would be awesome to see Jordan come back all the way and win at Pebble.
That’s all for Pebble folks! Best of luck and let’s win!
