Hello, friends. *extremely Jim Nance voice* I am Blakey Locks and I will be your guide this March. Every round I am going to traverse you through the trials and tribulations of betting your mortgage on 18-year-olds playing basketball. From Duke to Seton Hall to Gardner Webb, I will give you the knowledge necessary to conquer your bookie and feed your children. We will win together, lose together and laugh together. Let’s ride.
NCAA Tournament Record- (36-30)
National Championship Game- Monday 4/8
“WAHHHHH! I don’t get to see Zioooon!” “WAHHHHH! Where is UNCeeeee?” “Where’s Kentuckyyy?” “Where’s Kansasss?” “This championship game is sooo boringgggg!!”
You are such a fucking loser if you aren’t excited for this game. Do people forget that UVA has only lost three games all year and one of them was to Duke?? Has nobody watched Texas Tech’s tournament games? The UVA-Purdue and UVA-Auburn games were two of the best games of the tournament. These two teams are unreal and they have two top-ten coaches in the nation both competing for their first national title. These two teams are unbelievably efficient on both ends of the floor. Other than maybe Duke or Gonzaga, UVA was the best team in the country all year. Texas Tech has been the best team of the tournament, just rolling through their tough competition. I promise you if you don’t go in with that dogshit attitude just because they don’t score a ton of points, you will enjoy this game. They are going to grind out long possessions and get efficient shots. I can’t wait. Let’s ride.
All lines as of Monday @ 12:00 PM EST via BetOnline
9:20 PM on CBS- (3) Texas Tech vs. (1) Virginia (-1.5) o/u 118
UVA has been my squad all year. They were one of my five preseason futures and they are one of the last two teams standing. They were down at the half to Gardner Webb, they almost choked the game away to Oregon, they needed a miracle play to send the game to OT against Purdue, they needed Kyle Guy to score six points in seven seconds to beat Auburn, but here they are. Still here. Texas Tech has done the opposite. They have been consistent and dominant in their approach.
This game is pretty much going to come down to who has been the better team in March vs. who has had that March Magic. I’ve seen enough NCAA tournaments to know that it’s better to be lucky than good in March(/April). It takes a few incredible breaks and being a team of destiny to win a title. After what happened to UVA last year, this seems like the perfect story. I’m not hedging out on this future. I’m putting more money on the Hoos. Let’s fucking go Hoos. 37-30 with a cashed future would be an unreal March. GIVE IT TO ME!
The Final Pick: UVA -1.5
